The Landing
In a moonlit field, a solitary cow stands alert, her gaze fixed on an unseen presence. The grasses and wildflowers beneath her sway liquid with energy emanating from just beyond the frame of our vision. Accounts of mysterious lights and cattle abductions are prevalent in parts of the Southwest—this piece was made to honor the stories of this land and the people who tell them. The highly textural oil paint was carved with deep grooves when Iris used strictly fingerpainting to bring this impressionistic scene to life.
